Charity Number had set up an impersonator account of Hilary Duff on Google Hangouts and attempted to scam me out of money for a charity. Individual had hacked Ms. Duff’s Facebook artist page, messaged me from it, struck up a conversation while impersonating her, directed me to join Google Hangouts & add them, and once I did they proceeded to try to bully me into Western Union-ing $400.00-$1000.00 a month to them to supposedly forward to a charity that had been helping with last year’s Houston flooding recovery efforts. I blocked them upon reading the Western Union b.s., and months later the Google Hangouts account was deleted & in the blocked section of my Google account the remains of that block give this number 677-614-8297 as the number used to create the impersonation account. 05/12/2018 3:32 pm

Other reason Received a call from this number. After waiting a moment, a recorded voice said, "Sorry" and promptly hung up. They may be trying to bait one into calling back and charging you for the call. The 677 area code is the Solomon Islands. 04/04/2018 12:35 pm
Fraud Didn’t answer. No message left. This kind of scam is where they call to get an answer which verifies they connected to a real number. That goes into a database which is sold to telemarketers. It’s a computer that just random dials numbers to verify connections. Do not answer unknown numbers. If it’s important they will leave a message. Always type the number into google search. Fraud I answered...there was what sounded like a recording that loudly said "Sorry" and then hung up. I will block this number. Seems to me with all of the technology we have, there would be a way to catch these creeps and prosecute them. I have better things to do. (Apparently I'm not the only one dealing with this!)
